Sleep retreats like the moon,
over the sand, brightening my mind,
hauling the sea back with it,
my visions forgotten,
and my thoughts restored.
I think of you all the time,
my hands dripping with sweat,
heart pounding to the beat of the ocean.
Sleep approaches like a wave
in the sea, consuming me whole,
my consciousness lost
among the swells of dreams
I don’t see you in anymore.
I dream of laughter and cool breeze,
each friend out with me,
all knowledge of you hazy,
and my smile returned.
